VI. Plot
The girl said that she would dance with the student if he brought her a red rose ; cried the young student , but he has no red rose in his garden. From the oak tree the Nightingale saw him and looked out through the leaves. He cried and cried and said ; " Ah , on what little things does happiness depend! " I have read that the wise men have written , and all the secrets of philosophy are mine , yet for want a red rose in my life made wretched. "Here at last the true lover"; said the Nightingale. Every night the Nightingale sung of him , told him story to the stars. The prince give a ball tomorrow night murmured the student and his love will be of the company. If he bring her a red rose , she will dance with him till dawn. But there is no red rose in her garden , so he sit lonely in the grass. " Surely love is wonderful thing. It is more precious than emeralds , even pearls and pomegranates can't buy it and the musicians will sit in their gallery " ; said the young student and they play upon their stringed instruments and his love will dance to the sound of the harp and violin. But the girl will not dance with him because he has no red rose to give , so he sat down on the grass and buried his face in his hands and wept. " Why he is weeping? " ; asked the Green Lizard. "Why indeed " whispered the Daisy in a low soft voice and the Nightingale answered ; "he is weeping". Th Green Lizard was shocked and said ; "how very rediculous" , and laughed outright. But the Nightingale understood the secret of the student. Suddenly the Nightingale spread her brown wings for flight. She passed through the grove and she sailed across the garden. In the center of the grass plot she saw a rose terr and she flew over it. The Nightingale start to cry and said ; "Give me a red rose and I will sing you my sweetest song ". But the tree shocked his head and said ; "my roses are white but go to my brother who grows around the sundial , maybe he will give you what you want. So the Nightingale flew over the rose tree was growing around the sundial and said ; "give me a red rose and I will sing you my sweetest song". But the tree shocked his head and answered ; "my roses care yellow as yellow as the hair of the mermaiden , but go to my brother who grows beneath the students window. So the Nightingale flew over the tree and said ; "give me a red rose and I will sing you my sweetest song". But the tree shocked its head and said ; my roses are red as red as the feet of the dove and redder than the great fans of coral that wave in the ocean. But the winter has chilled my veins and frost my nipped body and the end storm break my branches and I shall have no red rose at all this year". The Nightingale cried because no one can give her a red rose. "There's a way " answered the tree , but the tree can't dare to tell the Nightingale because life must be sacrifice in order to gain a red rose. So the Nightingale spread her wings for flight. On the other hand the student still lying on the grass. "Be happy" cried the Nightingale , she build a red rose out of moonlight and stain with her own hearts - blood. She asked in return that the student will a true lover , for love is wiser than philosophy. While the student sit on the grass but he could not understand what the Nightingale was saying to him. But the oak tree understand so she asked the Nightingale to sing a song for the last time. While the student went to his room and lay down and fell a sleep. At night the Nightingale went to the rose tree and sit her breast against the thorn . All night she sang and the thorn went deeper and deeper into her breast , and her life - blood ebbed away from her. So the Nightingale sang until she sang the love that is perfected by death , of the love that does not in the tomb and she felt something choking in his throat. Then she gave her last burst of music and the white moon hear it and the red rose also and it trembled all over with estacy and opened its petal to the cold morning air. It floated through the reeds of the river and it carried its message to the sea. The tree cried and said ; " the rose tree is finished , but the Nightingale didn't answer , for she is lying dead on the grass with the thorn in her heart. T noon the student opened his window and there he saw a red rose that his never seen in bis entire life. It is very beautiful and he is not so sure the right name of the rose , so he leaned down and plucked it. Then he put his hat and ran to the professors house with a red rose in her hand. The daughter was sitting in the doorway and her little dog in her feet. The student start his conversation that he brought a red rose to the girl she would dance with him. But the girl frowned and said ; " I am afraid it will not go with my dress and besides the chamberlains nephew sent her some jewels and everybody's knows that jewels cost for than a flower. And the student said; "you are very ungrateful" and he threw the rose in the street , where it fell in the gutter and a cart - wheel went over it. After the girl responded the student , she got up from her chair and went into the house. "What a silly Love is" ; said the student and he walked away. It is not useful as logic , for it does not prove anything , and it always telling things that are not going to happen. In fact it is quite unpractical and as in this age to be practical is everything , so he shall go back to philosophy and study Metaphysics. So he returned back to his room and pulled out a great dusty book and began to read.
